Leatherwear brand HOUSE OF COMPULSION was founded in 2018 by fashion designer Alina Morar. She graduated with a Masters in Fashion Design from the University of Arts and Design in Cluj-Napoca (Romania). During her studies, she won numerous awards, including the Elle Style Award for Best Young Designer in 2014. As part of her degree, she interned at Meadham Kirchhoff’s London based studio, which prompted her to move to London upon graduation.
This was the place that inspired her to bring together her experience, identity as a designer and love for leather into what in 2018 became HOUSE OF COMPULSION – an ode to her all time favourite, the biker jacket.
In 2019, Alina returned to Romania wanting to build a strong base here and tap into the little known, but incredibly valuable resources and talent of her home town. In 2019, she opened HoC Studio where House of Compulsion’s leather pieces are being handcrafted into life and the biker jacket is being reinterpreted every day.
To us, an item of clothing is an experience, a mood. Each piece, a journey we embarked on to create something special for the seekers of one-of-a-kind moments. Through handcrafted, limited edition pieces, made-to-order and made-to-measure, we speak to the ones that appreciate clothes beyond trends, seasons and styling tricks. Each seam, cut and finish is tried and tested over and over again in a celebration of true craftsmanship, in our constant strive for the ever-unattainable perfection.
This is the essence of HOUSE OF COMPULSION.
